I've just been interviewed about podcasting by one of the community managers at Spreaker, an online broadcasting service that anyone can use.
So naturally I had a look at the Spreaker website and played with the system. I think it's neat. You can record a show or live broadcast it (which then also gets recorded) and the free plan allows an individual episode to be up to 30 minutes long.
The episodes are lined up in a neat RSS feed, so you can subscribe to the show right away using the podcatcher of your choice, or you could create an iTunes podcast from it.
They also give you a recording deck that you can play music through. You can use that to be the DJ and record a music show, or you could use it for an intro music or similar. Of course I only realized that that's what the deck was for after I was well into the recording. Oh well…
The one thing I'd improve is the sound quality. It doesn't sound anywhere near the 128kbit/s that they say the free plan gives you, and it's not due to my network connection, that one's rocket fast.
If you have something to say,
Spreaker might be worth a look.
