Berlin is not only the capital and largest city of Germany, it is also the place that has shaped German history more than any other. "The urban and historical legacy has made it a popular setting for international film productions. The city is recognized for its festivals, diverse architecture, nightlife, contemporary arts, public transportation networks and a high quality of living. Berlin has evolved into a global focal point for young individuals and artists attracted by a liberal lifestyle and modern zeitgeist." (Wikipedia)
This three-day workshop will take you right into the heart of Berlin. Our workshop headquarter will be at the famous Friedrichstraße, right at the border between the eastern and western part of the city, just a few minutes walking distance from many famous Berlin landmarks, including the Brandenburg Gate, the former Berlin Wall (or rather the remainders of it), the Reichstag, Checkpoint Charlie, and lots more.
To make this workshop even more special and memorable, participation is limited to seven participants, that's a third of what is usual for the other workshops

What do I need to bring?
Berlin LIMITED: Bring your camera, batteries and memory cards. Good shoes are recommended as the Berlin excursion will take us through the heart of the city partially on foot.
Washington D.C. The Perfect Shot: Bring your camera, lenses, batteries and memory cards. Please expect some walking during the photo day.
Toronto Large Format Analog: Film and development chemistry is included in the workshop. If you can, bring your large format and accessories. You are also welcome to participate without a large format camera, in that case we will have enough cameras for participants to get hands-on experience.
Toronto Urban Photography: Bring your digital camera, memory cards and batteries. A laptop is not required.
San Francisco Fire & Street: tbd

I know what every button on my camera does. How can I benefit from the workshop?
Being good on the technical side of photography is very helpful in many situations. Still, we as photographers can benefit to learn in other areas too. In order to take things to the next level, a photographer has to improve on the creative side too. On these workshops you will learn why certain images create certain reactions in the viewer, and how you can gain control over this with your photography.
Others say I have "a good eye". What can I learn on the workshop?
When we start off with photography, most of us begin taking pictures "from the gut". This workshop will teach you knowledge about how you can achieve specific things with your camera and how to get a lot more control over how the viewer will see your photography. By making more conscious decisions, you will be able to take your photography to the next level.
I am not sure I'm good enough to participate in the workshop.
You most likely are. Photographers of all levels are welcome to participate, including those just starting out and those looking to hone their skills. Before the workshop starts, you will receive some preparation materials to help everyone be on a similar level. I have never had a participant at any of my workshops who walked away without having learned something. And I have never had a participant who was too much of a beginner to participate. I take great pride in making sure all participants benefit from the workshops, no matter what level they are on. If you are not sure, pleae contact me and we'll find out together.
